"As I have a Scout history website, I often receive inquiries. Attached is a photo that was found in the legacy files of a Dutch newspaper photographer. It shows a group of Scouts and was probably taken in Holland. Both the scarves and the caps are distinctive. I wonder if you think that these might be Croatian Scouts (then part of Yugoslavia) who attended the 1937. World Jamboree in Holland?
The pattern on the neckerchief suggests the Croatian colors and your Scout Emblem.
The caps suggest that the Scouts were not from a British group (or from their pre-war Empire) as they all wore the traditional Stetson hat (as did American at that time). The cap is reminiscent of caps worn by some Balkan military (as the British and American hats were adopted on the pattern of their own military hats in early years (before the Second World War).
I would appreciate any thoughts from your organization on this photo.
